Millstone:
Monmouth's Largest Growing Town
Residential development began in this agricultural area in the 1970s, and now is one of the fastest growing areas in the county. Large estate homes on large lots dominate recent development in the town. Local land development ordinances have helped Millstone maintain its rural feel. Indeed, the latest U.S. census said no town in Monmouth County grew more in population between 1990 and 2000 (to a population of 8,970) than Millstone.
The terrain is of the rolling variety, and it can be breathtaking, the view during an automobile ride on country roads through the hills covered with trees and mountain laurel. Also, there are farms here, woods & fresh air. The very things that have been luring newcomers to Millstone Township and other western Monmouth County locations.
No matter which country road you choose, there are things to see in Millstone. The people in those cars, may well be headed to ride by nurseries where thousands of trees are planted each year stand in neatly organized rows or through the Clarksburg section, which is almost Mayberry-like with its narrow winding main drag and post office, yet updated by a striking Veterans Memorial. Even the old Clarksburg School is getting a makeover, being restored for use as a municipal annex. People drive to see the horse farms and large Manor estates. Enjoy the parks on a sunny afternoon. Take the time to enjoy this lovely quiet town and see why it's the fastest growing community.
